David Lasky and Nick Thorburn at Fantagraphics Bookstore

Join us on Saturday Septemeber 8 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Fantagraphics Bookstore as Seattle cartoonist David Lasky discusses his forthcoming Georgetown Steamplant graphic novel (in collaboration with writer Mairead Case) and discuss their approach to the project, scheduled for publication in fall of 2019. This is the first graphic novel funded by the City of Seattle’s public art program. Bookstore curator Larry Reid served on the panel that selected Lasky from more that 70 applicants. For the past decade, we’ve been privileged to share space with our retail partners at Georgetown Records. The shop specializes in vintage vinyl – everything from early punk, power pop, prog, soul, industrial, electronica, garage, psychedelic, rock n roll, and more. This Saturday, April 22 marks the 10th annual Record Store Day, a national celebration of record shops. Don’t miss the Northwest Alternative Comics exhibition at Washington State University’s Museum of Art featuring Jim Woodring, Peter Bagge, Ellen Forney, David Lasky, Max Clotfelter, Tom van Deusen, Eroyn Franklin, Taylor Dow, Mita Mahato, and Paul Chadwick, on view through December 17.    On July 9, Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery pays tribute to the phenomenal Intruder comix tabloid on the occasion of its final issue. It’s hard to overstate the influence of this publication on the local comix community.    Don’t miss an amazing exhibition of tributes to Valentina, the signature character of late cartoonist Guido Crepax, opening this Saturday at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery.
