The South Gets a New Festival

Austin, Texas is getting a upgrade this year with the inception of New South Festival of Literary Arts and Cartooning. Here’s why you should put it on your calendar for June 6th.

Colorful Comix and a Carnival at Fantagraphics Bookstore

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery is pleased to welcome two exceptional cartoonists on Saturday, June 13 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Brooklyn-based artist Koren Shadmi will join Seattle cartoonist and educator Greg Stump presenting new works. This event coincides with the 10th annual Georgetown Carnival featuring art, music and more throughout the historic arts community.

Daniel Clowes at Meltdown Comics

May, 14 2015 – Daniel Clowes will be at making his first Los Angeles appearance in several years at Meltdown Comics on June 5th to celebrate the release of The Complete Eightball, a two-volume collection of the influential and iconic comic book series, from Fantagraphics Books. On Friday, June 5th, from 6-10 PM, Meltdown will be opening its Los Angeles doors to fans new and decades strong for a night complete with prizes, a book signing, costume contest, and an interview between Clowes and Mark Frauenfelder from Boing Boing. Tuesday, May 5th Minneapolis, MN – Black River has been rattling bones up and down the coast with its release. Which means it’ll fit right in at Boneshaker Books in Minneapolis tonight! This volunteer run book store and community space is the bees knees, and we’re so excited that they’re hosting Josh Simmons and 2D Cloud’s Nic Breutzman for a signing that will begin at 7 PM.
