Greg Stump, Koren Shadmi, and more at Fantagraphics Bookstore

Disillusioned_Illusions

Mike's_Place Join us this Saturday, June 13 at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery for a festive celebration of contemporary comix, music, art, and more. Two exceptional cartoonists, Koren Shadmi and Greg Stump, will present new works from 5:00 to 8:00 PM in a fitting finale to the Georgetown Carnival arts fair.

Brooklyn-based artist Koren Shadmi will sign copies of his new graphic novel Mike’s Place. This true story, written by filmmaker Jack Baxter, documents a cosmopolitan bar on the beach of Tel Aviv – described by Michael Cavna in the Washington Post as “a social cocktail of blended patrons…akin to Rick’s place, Casablanca’s Café Americain.” That ambience was suddenly blown away by a terrorist attack that killed 3 and injured 50, including Baxter. This compelling story is illustrated with captivating precision by Shadmi.

Seattle cartoonist Greg Stump will present original art from his new book Disillusioned Illusions from the Fantagraphics Underground imprint. The book is chronicles a conversation among optical illusions. Stump will be available to sign copies of the book, making its debut at the event.
