I just put a bunch of scans online from the ridiculous book idea I haven't had the money/energy/dimwittedness to pursue: Bears Versus Horses culls together myriad illustrations from vintage sources which depict animals in conflict with each other. Apologies and thanks to the sources on the web from which I've garnered much of this imagery. These are mostly taken from Ebay auction listings I can't afford to "win."

I have quietly been organizing a BEASTS! print show for the Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery's Second Anniversary in December. Details will come in November but in short: The show will feature art from any of the 180 international artists who wish to make non-digital prints of their beast, whether it's the art that ran in the books or new variations. What follows here is simply a manifesto of sorts– an explanation for why this print show is what it is. This came about because some people were confused why I don't want to sell digital prints, including our hard-working gallerist…

While going through some of Craig Yoe's comic books here at the office I came across a particularly great example of the old pulp coloring. A smart idea from the mind of Ray: Little books that act like arts grants. If you make real money for a living I don't know why you wouldn't buy a Coffee Money Zine. You will get bored with your new gadgets. From Ray: "The purchase of a CMZ pays for one month's worth of coffee, and allows me to loiter in the coffee shop from 7 – 8:30 a.m. every weekday while I practice writing. CMZ sponsors get 30 days of little drawings, some good, some not, much like my own notebooks. The concept for each one is different….
