What’s in Store: NOW: The New Comics Anthology

  

Join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore on Saturday, January 13 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM as we present an exhibition of pages from Now: The New Comics Anthology. The event features work from emerging and established contributing artists and a talk by Fantagraphics Books associate publisher Eric Reynolds.

Currently in its second issue, Now showcases an impressive array of national and international artists, cartoonists, musicians and filmmakers including Conxita Herrero (Spain), Tommi Musturi (Finland), Nick Thorburn (Canada), Dash Shaw, Gabrielle Bell, Sammy Harkham, Eleanor Davis, Sammy Harkham, Christian Rex Van Minnen, Noah van Sciver, Andrice Arp, and Joseph Remnant, among many others. Series editor Reynolds explains, “I want to encourage the revival of the short story in the age of long form graphic novels. I want to showcase as diverse a collection of cartoonists and comics as possible, one that provides a full spectrum of what the medium has to offer.” Reynolds will discuss his editorial process at 7:00 PM.

The reception on Saturday, January 13 coincides with the lively Georgetown Art Attack featuring colorful contemporary visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic district.
