Gates of Heck was the brainchild of publisher Katharine Gates. Throughout the ’90s, this adventurous imprint produced idiosyncratic projects by artists like Charles Burns, Gary Panter, Art Spiegelman, Annie Sprinkle, Carolee Schneemann, Steven Cerio, and many more.
