  • Seattle: Legend of Hot Curl with music by Pleasure Island

    Fantagraphics Bookstore presents Michael Dormer and the Legend of Hot Curl with surf sounds by Pleasure Island. The late Michael Dormer is synonymous with the California surf counterculture in the 1960s and 1970s. The post-World War II influence of Beatnik poetry, jazz, and art interpretation around the California Coast created a revolution in the Orange County surf world, and no one defined the visual style of this movement more than Dormer. An exhibition of original work opens on Saturday, August 12 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with music by Pleasure Island at 7:00.

    Katie Skelly (Nurse Nurse, Operation Margarine) will be at Comix Experience on August 23, 2017 to sign copies of her new graphic novel My Pretty Vampire (Fantagraphics) at 6pm! My Pretty Vampire, is a sexy, sophisticated horror romp with a colorful Pop sensibility and keen fashion sense. The signing will be free and open to the public 6pm to 7:30pm. It will be followed by the Comix Experience Graphic Novel of the Month club meeting, which is only open to club members.
