FREE and open to the public to meet and support local artists and discover new work! PLUS we'll have Katie Skelly signing her newest release My Pretty Vampire starting at 3 pm!
D.J. Bryant will be at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery in Georgetown on September 9th from 6pm to 8pm. He will be signing his new graphic short story collection Unreal City.
BLAB!, the critically acclaimed anthology of contemporary artists working in illustration, printmaking, painting, graphic design, and sequential art, presents a select cache of original drawings by Emil Ferris from her fictional graphic diary, My Favorite Things is Monsters. Copro Gallery will host the 12th Annual BLAB! Show group art exhibition with an opening reception on on Saturday, September 9th from 8:00 to 11:30 PM. Exhibit runs; September 09 – September 30, 2017. Copro Gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturday, and admission is free.

The annual SPX comics and graphic arts festival presents the best and brightest established creators in independent comics. In addition to the opportunity for public exposure and potential revenue the festival provides to attending artists, the event also allows less established to network with publishers and prominent creators, providing unique opportunities for the comic artist/writer that is just starting out. The Brooklyn Book Festival is one of America’s premier book festivals and the largest free literary event in New York City. Presenting an array of national and international literary stars and emerging authors, it includes a week of Bookend Events throughout New York City, a lively Children’s Day and a celebratory Festival Day with more than 300 authors and 200 booksellers in a vibrant Literary Marketplace. Comics creators in attendance will include: Gabrielle Bell, Dame Darcy, Nicole Georges, Julia Gfrörer, Victor LaValle, Leslie Stein and many others.
Author Pat Thomas hits the road to promote Did It: Jerry Rubin, An American Revolutionary. Appearances will feature vintage audio & visuals of Jerry in the 1960s plus guest appearances along the way by Jerry’s wife, brother, Yippie-era friends. Pat will be at Book Soup in LA at 7PM on September 19th.
Paul Buhle will be at A Room of One's Own on September 22nd at 6pm. He will be discussing his newest book, Johnny Appleseed, illustrated by Noah Van Sciver.
