What’s in Store: Short Run Marathon!

Join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery on Friday, November 3 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM for the 5th annual Short Run Marathon art show and pre-festival party. The exhibition features original works by an amazing array of artists including Emil Ferris, Leela Corman, Julia Wertz, Anders Nilsen, Jordan Crane, Gemma Correll, Tom Hart, nishat akhtar, Rebecca Artemisa, with presentations by Anders Nilsen & 2dcloud.

The Short Run Comix & Art Festival has grown to become one of the country’s premier showcases of emerging contemporary cartoonists. As the titles suggests, the Marathon exhibition references the daunting challenges these artists confront in establishing their careers. All exhibiting artists will be present to sign books and discuss their work. Many participants in Short Run, which takes place the following day at the Seattle Center, will attend as well. Don’t miss this festive party, which will be followed by a reception hosted by the International Comics Art Forum (ICAF) at the nearby Georgetown Stables featuring a Fantagraphics panel with Gary Groth, Jim Woodring, and Emil Ferris. The programming continues on Saturday, November 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM as artist and educator Mita Mahato presents her new graphic novel In Between at the bookstore.

Fantagraphics Bookstore is located at 1201 S. Vale Street in the heart of Seattle’s historic Georgetown art community. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
