What’s in Store: Rock is Not Dead

Join us on Saturday, March 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery as we celebrate the release of Rock is Not Dead, a collection of comix and prose inspired by contemporary pop music. This ambitious publication, from Canada’s 11th Dimension Press, comes complete with a CD of the songs referenced in the book. The event will include a performance by Amy Denio, who is featured on the project covering the Throwing Muses “Not Too Soon” which provided the inspiration for Seattle cartoonist Noel Franklin’s contribution to the book. Other subjects include songs by The Clash, Beatles, Ministry, Radiohead, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, AC/DC, Kate Bush, and more. In addition to live music by Denio, contributors Franklin and Mark Campos will give slide talks. Don’t miss this festive reception, which will also afford you the opportunity to view our stunning exhibition R. Crumb: Early Works, 1965-1967, as well as a display of prints and posters by Charles Burns.

Fantagraphics Bookstore is located at 1201 S. Vale Street, only minutes south of downtown Seattle, in the heart of the historic Georgetown arts community. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-658-0110.
