What’s in Store: Noah Van Sciver, Joseph Remnant, and D. W. on October 14!

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery welcomes a power trio of accomplished contemporary cartoonists on Saturday, October 14 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. Noah Van Sciver, Joseph, Remnant and D. W. will be on hand to sign books and discuss their work.

Noah Van Sciver is one of the driving forces behind America’s new wave of independent comix. A prolific and influential artist, Van Sciver will sign copies of his recent graphic biography, Johnny Appleseed, as well as his sensational two volume series Fante Bukowski – a tragicomic account of an aspiring literary artist. He’ll be joined by Joseph Remnant of Los Angeles, presenting his first original graphic novel, Cartoon Clouds, a coming-of-age story focusing on the struggles of recent art school grads finding their way in the world. Remnant illustrated Harvey Pekar’s acclaimed Cleveland and has appeared in prominent publications including The Believer, Vice, and Juxtapoz. Recent Seattle arrival D. W. celebrates the release of Mountebank: A Psychedoolic Sketchbook from the adventurous Fantagraphics Underground imprint. An exhibition of his visionary drawings will open at the event and remain on display through November 1.

Don’t miss this opportunity to meet these three fascinating artists. The reception coincides with the colorful Georgetown Art Attack featuring lively visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic neighborhood. Fantagraphics Bookstore is located at 1201 S. Vale Street, only minutes south of downtown Seattle. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
