S. Clay Wilson’s profound influence on contemporary comix, visual art, and popular culture can’t be overstated. His work has been exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums worldwide. His provocative approach to narrative art informed generations of artists to follow. He was a founding member of the Zap Comix collective and collaborated with important literary artists like William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, Kathy Acker, and others. In addition, Wilson had a major presence in Seattle throughout his career. This beloved member of Fantagraphics’ extended family passed away in February following a prolonged convalescence.

The exhibition opens on Saturday, April 10 and remains on view through June 9, 2021. Fantagraphics Bookstore is located at 1201 S. Vale Street in the heart of Seattle’s historic Georgetown art community. Open daily 11:30 to 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
