What’s In Store: My Life & Times: Spain Vol. 3

The late Manuel “Spain” Rodriguez rose from the hardscrabble industrial city of Buffalo to become one of the most prominent and revered cartoonists of San Francisco’s underground comix movement. He was a complex artist with a colorful history as an outlaw biker, militant Marxist, visual artist, and community activist. My Life & Times: Spain Vol. 3 is the third of a five-volume series, compiled and edited by Patrick Rosenkranz, chronicling the illustrious career of the cartoonist who rose to international fame as a member of the ZAP Comix collective.

Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery commemorates the publication of the latest Spain volume with a display of prints from the book, focusing on his cultural and political posters as well as colorful underground comix covers. At once alluring and deliberately provocative, Spain’s work continues to resonate in our current cultural environment.
