What’s in Store: Charles Glaubitz with special guest Leela Corman

Please join us at Fantagraphics Bookstore on Saturday, April 13 for an exhibition of watercolors and drawings by Mexican multimedia artist Charles Glaubitz as he launches the second volume of his metaphysical graphic novel Starseeds. Also appearing is award-winning cartoonist and illustrator Leela Corman, co-founder of Sequential Artists Workshop in Gainesville, Florida.

Glaubitz’s Starseeds emerged from a series of narrative paintings on modern mythology. His subsequent graphic novel is informed by sources such as Joseph Campbell, Jack Kirby, Robert Anton Wilson, and the Mayan Aztec Codex – a fascinating and fluid meditation on the human condition. Glaubitz will exhibit recent watercolor works related to the book. This event will also introduce a Starseeds-branded hot sauce from HOSA, a Bellingham-based boutique condiment company co-founded by former Fantagraphics art director Jacob Covey.

New York artist Leela Corman returns to Seattle in advance of the Trailer Blaze women artists retreat sponsored by Short Run. She’ll sign copies of her acclaimed graphic novel Unterzakhn and the recent short story collection We All Wish for Deadly Force

This event coincides with the lively Georgetown Art Attack featuring colorful visual and performing arts presentations throughout the historic neighborhood. Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery – easily accessible by public transit, bicycle, and ride share services – is located at 1201 S. Vale Street, only minutes south of downtown Seattle. Open daily 11:30 – 8:00 PM, Sundays until 5:00 PM. Phone 206-557-4910.
