New York – The official release of the brand new graphic novel from Marguerite Van Cook and James Romberger, The Late Child and Other Animals, kicks off at Jim Hanley's Universe (or JHU) with a signing from 6-8 pm. Amidst all the other new comic releases this Wednesday, Late Child sticks out as a gorgeously illustrated tale of generational struggles and growth. The poetric lyricism of Van Cook and Romberger is swift and harrowing, told through a collage of memories and intimate moments that are often uplifting despite the difficult endeavours. So catch this and probably an X-Men book this Wednesday! (More Details)

Seattle, WA – If you were born in Washington, or have ever landed at SeaTac airport, chances are you're familiar with the music of Sub Pop Records. But before the iconic label, there was Sub Pop USA, a fanzine of underground sound, and proponents of bands that would soon be national icons (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth, just to name a few), and featured cover by artists like Charles Burns and Lynda Barry. Fantagraphics Bookstore and Gallery will be hosting the release of Sub Pop USA: The Subterranean Pop Music Anthology, 1980-88, published by Bazillion Points. We will also be joined by Calvin Johnson, founder of K Records in Olympia and main man of Beat Happenings, who will be dropping some of those beats live in store. Event begins at 6 pm! (More Details)
