Austin, TX – SXSW is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year by bringing the biggest and best names from the worlds of music, film, and interactive media and entertainment. With concerts, panels and performances SXSW has earned a reputation of good business and good times. If you're heading out this March for the Texas capitol, make sure one of your stops is at the music panel, "Books are the New Vinyl", beginning Friday, March 20th at 5 pm.

As most of the media that we consume migrates from our shelves and into our digital devices, what are we leaving behind? Books are inherently a cultural placeholder for art, ideas, and discovery, but their wide digital platform has elevated the Book into an artform itself. Much like the vinyl album, it's function is almost moot, but its relevance to how we project ourselves to the world is plays an increasingly vital role.

Feautred guests includes Fantagraphics author Danny Bland, who authored In Case We Die, a novel born out of the Seattle '90s scene; and the recent release from Subpop, I Apologize in Advance for All the Awful Things I'm Gonna Do, a gripping haiku and poetry mashup. Additionally, Public Enemy rapper, music hall-of-famer, author and producer, Chuck D , will be taking the floor.

Join host Rynda Laurel, a music and tech industry veteran, as she discusses the intersection of music, books, and the obession with bin flipping and collecting.
