To kick off pride month, on June 8th the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco will be hosting the first annual Queer Comics Expo, also affectionately known as the Queer Comicon, presented by the Queer Cultural Center. Mingle with drag queens, watch comic demonstrations, and join in on conversations about the history and future of LGBTQ comics!

This first annual event begins at 11 am, and runs until 5 pm, and will be a fun full day of celebration, achievements, and comics!

Celebrating the achievements made in queer comics will be headlining exhibitor, Ed Luce! Announced earlier this month at TCAF, Fantagraphics is so thrilled to be publishing the hit independent series, Wuvable Oaf. As the force behind the comics and anthology, Ed will be present at the expo to showcase the beloved series about Oaf, who traverses the ups and downs of finding love and living life, set against his San Francisco home. As an educator for the California College of the Arts MFA, and former Queer Press Grant Recipient, Ed Luce is an indeliable influence on the world of comics.

Other spectacular cartoonist guests include Jett Attwood, Alex Woolfson, and Tyler Cohen, as well as many others.

And to keep the expo rockin, in true comic convention standard, Super Drag Queens will be meandering and mingling amongst attendeeds, handing out awards for the best cosplay. If you see anyone wandering as the Oaf, send us pictures!

Tickets to attend the Queer Comic Expo are included in the admission to the Cartoon Art Museum, $8 for general public, and $6 for students and senior citizens. They are available at the door, or from the Queer Cultural Center. Those attending the expo will also receive a 10% discount from the museum's bookstore!

A host of events will be happening around the city as part of the Queer Cultural Center's National Queer Arts Festival, which impressively runs from May 30th, to July 5th. So join Ed, the Super Queens, and champions of queer comics to get your Pride on!
