Alex volunteered to stick around and help us set up our table, and came up with some dynamite display ideas (that's him on the left):
Here I am learning to love double-sided tape:
Our own "booth babe," Janice Headley:
Hey, get back to work!
Here are some views of our table setup before the show opened:
Our signing schedule got off to a great start with the always-delightful Drew Friedman (accompanied by his equally delightful wife Kathy, not pictured. Confidential to Drew and Kathy: just send that traffic ticket to Gary):
Next up were Miss Lasko-Gross and Blake Bell. Unfortunately Blake's book Strange and Stranger: The World of Steve Ditko, which was supposed to debut at the show, didn't make it due to a shipping snafu. Our apologies to all the disappointed fans — we were just as disappointed as you were!
Jason and Dash Shaw kept up a rigorous pace during their alloted time. With Jason and Lynda Barry (signing for our pals Drawn & Quarterly) on the same side of the room, there was a bit of a traffic jam:
Here, Hotwire contributor (and charming guy) Tobias Tak has comics signed by Ted Stearn, sharing the table with Paul Hornschemeier:
As you can see from the repeated rear/side angle of these photos, it was virtually impossible to get out from behind the table even for a quick snapshot of our artists with the constant stream of fans and customers at our table. Big thanks to all the fans, shoppers, and friends old and new who stopped by and kept us busy!
Unfortunately we couldn’t make it to Blake Bell's multimedia Steve Ditko presentation at Jim Hanley's Universe that evening after the show, but Flickr user BH123 did and posted this photo:
Next: Day 2!
