Lilli Carré and Paul Hornschemeier at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago!

Bubbleheads by Paul Hornschemeier

In conjunction with the exhibit Modern Cartoonist: The Art of Daniel Clowes, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is hosting the all-day event Saturday Strip on Saturday, July 27th, showcasing all that is amazing in the world of independent comics, cartoons, and animation in their town!

Paul Hornschemeier will discuss the Chicago comics scene, and Lilli Carré will give tips on how to make your own mini-comics and animated films, alongside many other awesomely talented artists during panels and workshops.

You can also buy rare books and original artwork at a pop-up comic fair co-presented by the MCA Store and Chicago’s renowned Quimby’s Bookstore; enjoy screenings of animated short films programmed by the Eyeworks Festival of Experimental Animation; and take part in a large-scale, collaborative comic jam with local comic collective Trubble Club.

Phew! And all this awesome comics madness is FREE with museum admission, and you know you were gonna go see that Daniel Clowes exhibit for the second time anyway.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is located at 220 E Chicago Avenue, just one block east of Michigan Avenue, in the heart of the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago.
