2019 Special Guests:
Jaime Hernandez: Together with his brothers Gilbert and Mario, Jaime co-created the hugely influential comics series Love and Rockets in 1981. Hot off the heels of Jaime Hernandez’s last graphic novel masterpiece, Is This How You See Me?, comes Tonta, a stand-alone graphic novel that shines a light on the family tree of one of Hernandez’s most memorable characters of recent memory, the teenaged Tonta.

Ed Piskor: Creator of the New York Times Best-Selling series Hip Hop Family Tree, and the new series for Marvel, X-Men Grand Design, which was released in 2017 to wide acclaim. Piskor is one half of the popular comics video series Cartoonist Kayfabe, with Jim Rugg.

Simon Hanselmann: Creator of the New York Times best-selling Megg & Mogg series, which has been translated into thirteen languages, nominated for multiple Ignatz and Eisner awards, and won “Best Series” at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2018. His most recent book is Bad Gateway.

Yann Kebbi: Paris-based painter and illustrator Yann Kebbi’s work has appeared in many exhibitions in Paris and regularly appears in such publications as Le Monde,The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Washington Post. His latest longform work is The Structure Is Rotten, Comrade, written by Viken Berberian

José Quintanar: Previeously known as José Jajaja, Quintanar creates narrative drawings, comics, and books and has released several full-length graphic novels and artists’ books His drawings have been published in The New York Times, Esquire, kuš! Komikss, Fulgencio Pimentel, Editions Misma, and many more. Recently, his short stories have appeared in several issues of Now: The New Anthology, from Fantagraphics.

Rikke Villadsen: An artist and cartoonist from Denmark. She participated in the 2010 Nordicomic workshop and anthology and has been nominated four times for the Ping Award, a Danish comics award. Her latest book in English is The Sea.

Ben Passmore: author of the ongoing comic book series Daygloayhole, as well as the Eisner Award-nominated and Ignatz Award-winning comic collection Your Black Friend. He lives in Philadelphia. BTTM FDRS, written by Ezra Claytan Daniels, is nominated for a Harvey Award.

Eleanor Davis: Her work has won Eisner Awards and a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators. Books include How to Be Happy, You & a Bike & a Road (Koyama Press, 2017), and Why Art?, and she’s contributed short pieces to the acclaimed comics anthology NOW.
