For over 45 years, Fantagraphics has been an advocate for and publisher of the greatest comics in the world of sequential art. When the time came to refresh our visual identity, we knew we wanted our new look to be as strong and inventive as the work we champion. We’re now incredibly proud and excited to unveil our company-wide rebrand, wherein these aesthetic ideals are represented by our new logo, the Legacy Torch, and a thoroughly revamped website.
The New Logo
Fantagraphics Art Director Jacob Covey explains the intention behind the new Legacy Torch logo: “We are the torchbearers of art and literary comics, a guiding light through vapid consumerism. After four decades of elevating the artform, we’ve earned the gravitas to put our seal of approval on every book we publish. When people see the flaming nib on the cover of a Fantagraphics book, they’ll know that it has been labored over from inception through production. The mark is a signifier of pure craft.”
Finally, we have an icon that fully represents our dual mission to recognize cartooning’s early luminaries as well as to seek out the most vibrant contemporary voices in visual storytelling. Look for the Legacy Torch on the new site, fresh merch, and of course, gracing the covers and spines of our forthcoming books!
The New Website
We are so excited for you to explore the newly redesigned Fantagraphics.com. In addition to looking amazing, and having hugely improved mobile browse-ability, the new site also features a more seamless, automated shipping system, so you can track it from the moment it leaves our warehouse, right to your doorstep. This new, streamlined process should help our beloved customer service and warehouse teams get the books you crave delivered to you faster than ever before! A huge shoutout to our incredibly talented web designer for the project, Seattle-based Michiko Swiggs! She held our technophobic, ink-stained hands throughout the whole process, and the new site wouldn’t have been possible without her!
For current customers, your accounts will be transferred over to the new site, and we’ll follow up with an email to get you set up with a secure new password and to make sure your info is up to date. We are also now able to accept payments via PayPal in addition to all major credit cards. All gift certificates and Fantabucks purchased on our old website will of course be honored, but we’re expecting it to take a week or so for our team to port that information over, so thanks in advance for your patience! Rest assured, we are working hard to provide a seamless transition to a better shopping experience for all Fantagraphics fans.
