
It’s that time of year again: Short Run Comix & Art Festival! Special guests Powerpaola (All My Bicycles) and Julia Gfrörer (World Within the World: Collected Minicomix & Short Works 2010-2022) will be at their own tables with their work and we’ll be hosting signings with Ellen Forney, Caitlin McGurk, Graham Chaffee, Josh Simmons, and Caitlin Cass at our table F:32-33! Here’s what you’ve got to look forward to:
The weekend kicks off on Thursday, October 31st with a Short Run Showcase at Public Display Art Community Space (110 Union St. Ste. 400 (b/w 1st & 2nd Ave, across from SAM (Seattle Art Museum)) at 7:00-9:00 pm! It will feature readings with Heather Loase, Mita Mahato, Cara Bean, Powerpaola, November Garcia & Brandon Lehmann. Cash bar. Costumes encouraged!
Then on Friday, November 1st, the Fantagraphics Bookstore & Gallery will host the Marathon Art Show and pre-fest reception from 6:00-9:00 pm. It will feature work by Powerpaola, Heather Loase, Julia Gfrörer , Maggie Umber, Ian Mackay, Conor Stechschulte, Yina Kim, Ash H.G., Sarah Leavitt, Mita Mahato, & Cara Bean and the evening will begin with an interview with Julia Gfrörer and Conor Stechschulte + Larry Reid.
The show itself is on November 2nd from 11:00 am-6:00 pm at the Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center! Our signing schedule at table F:32-33 is:
12:00-1:00 pm: Ellen Forney (Rock Steady: Brilliant Advice From My Bipolar Life)
1:00-2:00 pm: Caitlin McGurk (Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund)
2:00-3:00 pm: Graham Chaffee (Light It, Shoot It)
3:00-4:00 pm: Josh Simmons (Jessica Farm)
4:00-5:00 pm: Caitlin Cass (Suffrage Song: The Haunted History of Gender, Race and Voting Rights in the U.S.)

And the fun doesn’t end when the show ends: Caitlin McGurk will be discussing and signing Tell Me a Story Where the Bad Girl Wins: The Life and Art of Barbara Shermund at the Seattle Public Library on November 3rd from 1:00-2:00 pm!
