The annual SPX comics and graphic arts festival presents the best and brightest established creators in independent comics. A psychedelic chronicle of 1970s New York paves the road for even trippier Washington D.C. satire; a meditation on casual bigotry feeds a gentrification horror story; and a daily conversation in an African hotel blossoms into the epic survival story of one of Guantanamo Bay’s youngest detainees. Ben Passmore (BTTM FDRS), Jérôme Tubiana (Guántanamo Kid), and Mark Alan Stamaty (MacDoodle Street) discuss the art of stepping outside reality in order to depict it. The Doylestown Bookshop & the County Theater are pleased to present an author event on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30 PM with Joe Ciardiello for his book, A FISTFUL OF DRAWINGS, a gorgeous graphic memoir that sees the author weave together his Italian family history and the mythology of the American West while paying homage to the classic Westerns of the '50s and '60s.
