Put on by Breakdown Press, Safari Festival is a one-of-a-kind indie comics festival in the heart of London that showcases international artists who are breaking the comics mold. Special guests this year include Simon Hanselmann and Joan Cornella. We'll be repping the Fantagraphics line at our own table in partnership with Gosh! Comics of London. Colorful grease paint, gravity-defying wigs, and elaborate sewing marvels: welcome to the wonderful world of cosplay. Comic book writer/artist, and animator Dash Shaw loving explores this costume-crazed fandom in his latest book Cosplayers. Dash will be joined in conversation with writer and curator Dan Nadel. There will also be a small preview of the film based on his previous book Doctors.

In celebration of the release of Fantagraphics Books Inc.'s THE MEAT CAKE BIBLE, PhilaMOCA will host a very special evening with Dame Darcy! Darcy will be reading, singing, and signing copies of her new book, which will be available at the event. Plus special opening performers Gavin Riley Smoke Machine and Beth Heinly. Doors 7, Event 7:30, $5 admission Dame Darcy is known worldwide as a sequential artist for over 25 years, and has published about 100 books internationally.

The art exhibit, Robert Williams Slang Aesthetic travels from Los Angeles to the Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, NM.
