The Museum of the City of New York is programming months of top notch comics events in conjuction with their exhibit Roz Chast: Cartoon Memoirs. Full description from their website: Join Ed Piskor, New York Times best-selling, award-winning cartoonist to delve deep into the 40-year kinship between hip-hop culture and comic books. Valise Gallery sits on Vashon Island, a gem off the coast of Seattle, and they'll be hosting a gallery opening of their newest resident, Jim Woodring! A collection of drawings and prints will be hanging from August 5th-31st, with a reception on Friday, August 5th. Don't miss it!

Colorful grease paint, gravity-defying wigs, and elaborate sewing marvels: welcome to the wonderful world of cosplay. Comic book writer/artist, and animator Dash Shaw loving explores this costume-crazed fandom in his latest book Cosplayers. Dash will be joined in conversation with writer and curator Dan Nadel. There will also be a small preview of the film based on his previous book Doctors.
