Join us to celebrate the release of Original Art: Daniel Clowes, which turns the spotlight on one of the medium’s most dynamic creators. A vital entry of the Fantagraphics Studio Edition series, this volume draws from Clowes’s nearly 30 years of comics art, ranging from his seminal one-man anthology, Eightball (in which Ghost World was originally serialized), to his most recent graphic novel, 2016’s best-selling time travel thriller, Patience.

Jim Pascoe signs COTTONS: THE WHITE CARROT and Mary Fleener signs BILLIE THE BEE!

Both legendary cartoonist Kim Deitch (Reincarnation Stories) and rising star Noah Van Sciver (Fante Bukowski) create comics in which either they themselves, or alter egos, play a prominent role. Join the two artists at Butler Library on February 27th, where they will discuss their new books, their influences, and the way in which their real and comics personae interact. The talk will be followed by book sales and signing.

This August 22nd, Autoptic will be presenting Autoptic 2020—a virtual tribute to the show that almost was. In collaboration with the Gutter Boys podcast, we’ll be hosting interviews with some of our special guests, including Julia Gfrörer, Rumi Hara, M.S. Harkness, (and more). Autoptic will also be releasing a special festival catalog showcasing the incredible work of our exhibition applicants, with a cover by our show artist, Madeline McGrane. Join New York Times bestselling cartoonist Simon Hanselmann for a discussion of self-publishing zines, collecting comics for the mass market, and his upcoming book, Seeds and Stems! Bio: Simon Hanselmann was born in 1981 in Launceston, Tasmania. His New York Times best-selling Megg, Mogg, and Owl series has been translated into thirteen languages, nominated for multiple Ignatz and Eisner awards, and won “Best Series” at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2018. He currently lives in Seattle, WA, with his wife and a rotating cast of small animals.
