Seattle, WA – In conjuction with our favorite video store non-profit, Scarecrow Video, Fantagraphics is pleased to host an in-store screening of the film, Wild Style, with an intro and signing to follow with Hip Hop Family Tree cartoonist, Ed Piskor.
Wild Style was first released in 1983 and featured the hottest graffiti artists of the day. Not only that, it captured a perfect snapshot of Hip-Hop culture of New York City in the early '80s. Breakdancing, freestyle, scratching by Grandmaster Flash, and of course some of the most classic and notorious graffiti artists and their work.
And in the 2000's, Ed Piskor has been able to illustrate these moments and more in his New York Times Graphic Bestseller series, Hip Hop Family Tree. Engaging, funny, historical speak to HHFT and Wild Style, making their pairing at Scarecrow Video all the more perfect.
Put down the can of spray paint for a few hours, and join us for a night of art, friends, and a little boom bap. Screening begins at 7 PM!
